Robert McLachlan is an Adjunct Professor (Research) at the Hudson Institute of Medical Research and Honorary Professor at Monash University's Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology. He leads the Male Reproductive Biology Unit and serves as Deputy Director of Endocrinology at Monash Health. Currently, he is Director of Andrology Australia, a federal initiative focusing on male reproductive health.
Education: MBBS (Hons) from Monash University (1977), FRACP (1984), PhD from Monash University (1988), postdoctoral training at University of Washington (1988-89).
Research Interests: Male infertility, spermatogenesis, endocrine regulation, androgen physiology, and public health strategies. Key areas include molecular causes of infertility, hormonal contraception, and translational studies linking genetics to infertility.
Recent Articles: Focus on assisted reproductive technologies, sperm morphology classification, and health outcomes of ART-conceived individuals, leveraging AI and clinical data. Themes include improving diagnostic standards and understanding long-term effects of fertility treatments.
Awards: Eric Susman Prize (2002), Hoffenberg Medal (2014), AM (2016).
