Robert L. Markstrom serves as an Instructor in the Department of Mass Communication at McNeese State University's College of Liberal Arts, where he has directed the Forensics program since 1997 and previously led the department as Head from 2012-2019.

- Bachelor’s degree in Speech from the University of North Dakota (1992)
- Master’s Degree in Speech Communication with emphasis in Directing Forensics from North Dakota State University
Markstrom specializes in Speech and Debate education, with significant contributions to Forensics pedagogy and curriculum development. His expertise spans traditional communication disciplines including public speaking and interpersonal communication, while also addressing contemporary digital communication through courses on social media and emerging technologies.
As Director of Forensics, he oversees McNeese's competitive Speech and Debate program, mentoring students in competitive speaking events and maintaining the program's operational framework since 1997.
