Robert J. Weaver is an Associate Professor at the College of Engineering and Science, Florida Institute of Technology, specializing in coastal eco-engineering and hydrodynamics. He joined Florida Tech in 2011 after postdoctoral work at UNC-CH Institute of Marine Sciences, where he developed high-resolution coastal models for storm surge and particle tracking. Dr. Weaver plays a pivotal role in founding the Indian River Lagoon Research Institute and initiating the Living Dock program, focusing on science-based solutions to coastal challenges like sea level rise and habitat loss.
- Research Areas: Coastal eco-engineering, storm surge modeling, real-time coastal guidance systems, and habitat restoration.
- Projects: Co-developer of the Living Dock program and contributor to ADCIRC+SWAN model implementations for hurricane forecasting.
- Collaborations: Works with FL-ASGS (Florida Advanced Storm Surge Guidance System) team, utilizing NOAA and NHC meteorological data for operational forecasts.
- Expertise: Coastal modeling, numerical simulation, and environmental engineering solutions.
