Kelin Hu is a Research Assistant Professor at Tulane University's School of Science & Engineering, affiliated with the Tulane River and Coastal Center. Holding a PhD from East China Normal University, he develops computational models for coastal systems.
His research focuses on storm surge, hurricane wave, and sediment transport modeling, with applications to wetland restoration and flood risk assessment. Current projects investigate deltaic sediment dynamics and barrier island impacts on storm surge propagation.
Publications include hydrodynamic models for the Mississippi Delta, analyses of hurricane-induced marsh changes, and studies of household energy-carbon relationships. Research combines field data with ADCIRC/DELFT3D/SWAN modeling frameworks.
Collaborations span USGS and NOAA on coastal resilience projects. Recent work examines sediment diversion effects on Louisiana estuaries and develops HPC frameworks for oil spill trajectory modeling.
