His research focuses on international finance, macroeconomics, and asset pricing, with an emphasis on global trade networks, currency risk, institutional investor behavior, and the integration of machine learning methods in finance. He investigates how trade and social connectedness influence exchange rates and asset prices, and how investor demand shapes global imbalances and dollar strength.
His recent publications span top journals including the Journal of Finance, Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Financial Economics, and Review of Economic Studies. The work demonstrates a strong trend toward combining traditional asset pricing theory with novel data sources—such as social networks and institutional holdings—and advanced modeling techniques, including embeddings derived from AI. Key themes include the role of convenience yields, reserve asset competition, and the impact of passive investing on equity valuations.
