معرفی
Dr. Robert J. Levy is the William J. Rashkind Endowed Chair in Pediatric Cardiology at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and a Professor of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania. His career spans cardiovascular research, biomaterials, and pediatric cardiology, with a focus on gene therapy and anticalcification strategies for bioprosthetic heart valves.
Dr. Levy earned his MD from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and completed training at Children's Hospital Boston (pediatrics residency) and Harvard Medical School (cardiology fellowship). His research interests include
- Site-specific cardiovascular therapies using magnetic nanoparticles
- Mechanisms of bioprosthetic valve calcification
- CD47-based antithrombotic surface engineering
- Serotonin signaling in valvular heart disease
- Gene delivery from stents and implants
His publications demonstrate expertise in biomaterials development, cardiovascular gene therapy, and nanoengineering for controlled drug delivery. Key themes include calcification inhibition, endothelial cell functionalization, and serotonin receptor antagonism in valvular pathology.
Scientific honors include
- 2016 CHOP Faculty Mentor Award
- 2008 Forbes Technology Award for Magnetic Cell Targeting
- 1998 Founders Award Paper (Journal of Biomedical Materials Research)
- 1996 Honorary Professorships in China
Dr. Levy serves on editorial boards for Drug Delivery and Translational Research and Journal of Biomedical Nanotechnology. He leads institutional committees on entrepreneurship, mentorship, and strategic research planning at CHOP.
