Dr. Jose G. Diez is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Department of Cardiology at Baylor College of Medicine and a senior research scientist at the Texas Heart Institute. He holds affiliations with CHI St. Luke's Health, Texas Children’s Hospital, and the Baylor Heart Clinic. His expertise includes interventional cardiology, with a focus on transcatheter valve therapies, atherothrombosis, and acute coronary syndromes.
Education: MD from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (1989), followed by residencies in Internal Medicine in Colombia and Boston University, and fellowships in Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology at Texas Heart Institute.
Research interests include transcatheter valve replacement, interventional strategies for valvular disease, and vascular biology. He has published extensively on valve-in-valve procedures and TAVR outcomes. Awards include the 2022 All-Star Physician award from Baylor College of Medicine.
Dr. Diez has led clinical and interventional research programs at Baylor and Tulane University, directing cardiovascular catheterization labs. He remains active in professional societies like the American College of Cardiology and the National Marfan Foundation.
