Robert J. Goldston is a Professor of Astrophysical Sciences at Princeton University and former Director of the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL) from 1997 to 2009. He is an internationally recognized expert in plasma physics and magnetic fusion energy, with over 220 publications and co-authorship of the textbook Introduction to Plasma Physics (1995). His research focuses on fusion energy systems, plasma exhaust mechanics, tokamak technology, and non-proliferation strategies.
Key achievements include the APS Plasma Physics Prize (1995), a 2014 Global Thinker Award for arms control work, and the IAEA Nuclear Fusion Award (2015). His contributions span both technical advancements in fusion engineering and policy-oriented initiatives to promote global security.
