Richard P. Majeski is a Professor at the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL), Princeton University. He specializes in plasma physics, particularly in fusion energy research, focusing on tokamak engineering and plasma diagnostics. His work includes studying low-recycling boundary conditions in tokamak equilibria, liquid lithium wall applications, and radio frequency heating systems. Majeski holds a B.S. and M.S. in Physics from the University of Scranton and a Ph.D. in Plasma Physics from Dartmouth College. He teaches AST 555: Fusion Plasmas & Plasma Diagnostics and has received prestigious awards such as the PPPL Distinguished Research Fellow (2018) and the Kaul Foundation Prize (2010).
His research emphasizes advancing fusion reactor technology through innovations like lithium-coated plasma-facing components and liquid metal divertors. Recent studies include analyzing electron temperature profiles in lithium tokamak experiments and evaluating hydrogen retention in metallic walls. Collaborations with institutions like PPPL and NSTX-U highlight his contributions to next-generation fusion reactor design.
Awards include recognition from the American Physical Society (APS Fellow, 2007) and the Kaul Foundation. His work bridges theoretical plasma physics with practical engineering challenges in achieving sustainable fusion energy.
