Robert J. Donia is an Adjunct Lecturer in the Department of History at the University of Michigan and a Research Associate at the Center for Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies (CREES). He is also a member of the Weiser Center for Emerging Democracies (WCED) Advisory Council. Donia holds a PhD in History from the University of Michigan (1976) and has authored/co-authored seminal works on Balkan history, including studies on Bosnia and Hercegovina and the Bosnian Genocide.

Professional Contributions: He has provided strategic briefings to U.S. military units deploying to Bosnia and Kosovo, and served as an expert witness at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, including in the case of Slobodan Milosevic.
