Prof. Robert Inklaar is a Professor of Economics at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Economics and Business, leading the Groningen Growth and Development Centre and contributing to the Future Prosperity and Sustainability research theme. His work focuses on economic growth, productivity, and structural change, with a particular emphasis on cross-country comparisons and international datasets like the Penn World Table.
Education: Earned a PhD in Economics from the University of Groningen (2006), followed by roles as postdoc, assistant, associate, and full professor at the same institution. Active in global research networks, serving as Co-Editor of the Review of Income and Wealth and member of the ICP Technical Advisory Group.
Research Interests: Economic growth determinants, productivity measurement, structural transformation, and policy implications of global economic trends. Specializes in analyzing sectoral productivity, international income comparisons, and the role of institutions in development.
Grants & Projects: Led major initiatives including the Structural Transformation and Economic Growth (UK FCDO, 2020-2024) and OPSLAC (Digging into Data program, 2017-2020). Awards include the 2021 Kendrick Prize and the Willem F. Duisenberg Fellowship Prize.
