Robert Häsler is a Professor at Kiel University's Institute of Clinical Molecular Biology (IKMB) and affiliated with the University Medical Center Schleswig-Holstein (UKSH). He leads the Functional Genomics group and serves as a guest professor at the University of Prague.
Research Interests: His work focuses on the interplay between functional genomics, epigenetics, and host-microbiome interactions in chronic inflammatory diseases, particularly inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Recent projects integrate next-generation sequencing and systems immunology to uncover mechanisms of disease susceptibility and progression.
Publications: His research spans molecular pathogenesis, mitochondrial metabolism, and microbiota dynamics, with contributions to understanding how genetic and environmental factors (e.g., tobacco smoke, vitamin D receptor variation) influence gut health and inflammation.
Labs & Collaborations: He collaborates with institutions such as the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Biology and Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel, and participates in translational research projects funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG).
