Robert Hosfield is a Professor in the Department of Archaeology at the University of Reading. His research focuses on the European Lower Palaeolithic, human origins, lithic analysis, and applications of GIS in archaeology. He co-led the Historic England-funded 'Curating the Palaeolithic' project, producing guidance for managing Palaeolithic heritage. His recent work explores climatic adaptations of early hominins and the archaeological potential of secondary contexts. Hosfield holds a 2018 University Teaching Fellowship and serves as Vice President of the Prehistoric Society (2023-present). His publications include a monograph on the Broom site and a widely accessed book on early Europeans.
