Robert Hong

Robert Hong is an Associate Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology at Wayne State University School of Medicine and a staff physician at Michigan Ear Institute. He holds a dual appointment as Co-director of Research at Michigan Ear Institute and Director of the temporal bone anatomy module at Wayne State University. Dr. Hong is also Chief Medical Director for the Robert H. Mathog Lions Hearing Centers, focusing on hearing-related services and research.

Dr. Hong’s research interests center on ear and skull base disorders, including cochlear implantation, tinnitus, Meniere’s disease, and implantable hearing devices. His clinical work spans both adult and pediatric populations, with a focus on hearing loss, facial weakness, and acoustic neuromas.

Recent publications highlight his work in diagnostic imaging for hearing loss, Meniere’s disease treatment, and socioeconomic factors in otitis media. His research often addresses clinical outcomes and technological advancements in hearing devices.
