معرفی
Professor Robert Honey is a faculty member at Cardiff University's School of Psychology, where he co-directs Human Factors Excellence (HuFEx) and serves as Cardiff Lead for the BBSRC SWBio Doctoral Training Programme. His research examines how humans and animals adapt to environments through computational modeling, neurobehavioral systems, and real-world behavioral experiments, with applications in emergency services decision-making.
Research interests span:
- Neuroscience & Cognitive Science: Computational models of learning (e.g., HeiDI framework), Pavlovian conditioning mechanisms, and neural basis of adaptive behavior
- Human Factors: Decision-making in high-stakes environments (firefighting, emergency response)
- Cross-species Learning: Comparative studies of perceptual learning, associative processes, and behavioral plasticity
Honors include election as Honorary President of the Experimental Psychology Society. He contributes to national safety policy through memberships in:
- Academic Reference Group for Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services
- Academic Collaboration, Evaluation and Research Group (National Fire Chiefs Council)
Teaching includes coordination of the Final Year module Animal Learning and Cognition, seminars in Year Two psychology, and supervision of student research projects.
