معرفی
Robert Hoffman is a Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of California San Diego (UCSD), affiliated with the VC Health Sciences Schools. His research program focuses on developing a general cure for cancer, with a particular emphasis on angiogenesis, drug delivery, and translational research. His work involves creating patient-like mouse models of soft-tissue sarcoma subtypes and investigating metabolic pathways such as methionine dependency in cancer cells.
Hoffman has secured multiple NIH grants, including NIH R43CA213649 (2016–2017), NIH K04CA000804 (1982–1987), and NIH R01CA027564 (1979–1993), all as Principal Investigator. His research spans cancer biology, stem cell applications, and novel therapeutic strategies combining methionine restriction with chemotherapy.
His research interests include tumor immunology, regenerative medicine using HAP stem cells, and imaging techniques for real-time visualization of cancer progression. Collaborations with teams like those led by Dr. Bouvet highlight his multidisciplinary approach to cancer treatment.
Key areas of focus in his publications include synergistic drug combinations (e.g., ivermectin with methioninase), methionine restriction overcoming chemotherapy resistance, and the development of tumor-targeting bacteria like Salmonella typhimurium. His work bridges basic science and clinical applications, aiming to translate findings into improved patient outcomes through precision medicine.
