Robert Henry Bamberger is an Associate Lecturer at BIMM Performers College and a Doctorate Student at the Research Centre for Dance Research. His PhD project interrogates the socio-political implications of platform stiletto heels in queer performance, exploring themes such as movement ideologies, confessional practices, and the subversion of camp aesthetics.
Education:
- MA in Dance/Choreography from Sarah Lawrence College (2018–2020)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Dance from Marymount Manhattan College (2005–2009)
Research Focus: Bamberger’s work examines how footwear like heels reframe bodily expression, challenging norms around gender, queerness, and transgression. His inquiries bridge choreography, critical theory, and embodied practice to explore ‘movement alterity’ and political agency.
Professional Roles: Currently holds an Associate Lecturer position at BIMM Performers College, contributing to performance education.
