Robert Hartmann serves as a Lecturer at the Institute of Mathematics within the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Würzburg. His academic career spans over two decades with significant contributions to algebra and representation theory. His office is located in Building 40 (Mathematics East), Room 00.013, where he holds office hours Tuesday through Thursday from 9:00 to 17:00.
- Diploma Thesis: 'Funktorielle Erweiterungen invarianter Darstellungen normaler Hallgruppen' at Universität Augsburg (1998)
- Ph.D. Thesis: 'Endo-permutation and Endo-monomial Modules' at University of California Santa Cruz (2002)
Dr. Hartmann's research focuses on advanced algebraic structures, particularly in group theory and representation theory. His work centers on module theory, Brauer algebras, Burnside rings, and p-group classifications. His publications in prestigious journals like Journal of Algebra and Mathematische Zeitschrift demonstrate his expertise in connecting abstract algebra with combinatorial structures. His research has established important connections between representation theory and diagram algebras, contributing significantly to the understanding of cohomological properties in algebraic systems.
Through his active supervision of master's theses since 2017, Dr. Hartmann has mentored students working on diverse mathematical topics including Young Tableaux, Platonic solids symmetries, generating functions, matrix power series functions, and cryptography. His teaching portfolio shows consistent dedication to mathematics education, particularly in analysis courses at the undergraduate level. He has held important administrative roles including Mathematics Program Coordinator, Quality Officer for the Institute of Mathematics, and Room Management and Semester Planning for the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science.
