Robert Gideon Carlson was a Professor of Chemistry at the University of Kansas from 1963 to 2013. He held a B.S. from the University of Illinois (1959) and a Ph.D. in synthetic organic chemistry from MIT (1963). His research focused on organic synthesis, collaborations with biochemistry and pharmaceutical fields, and generated dozens of publications and patents. He was renowned for his teaching, receiving prestigious awards like the Mortar Board and Kemper Fellowship.
