Rev. Robert Gahl is an Associate Professor at the Busch School of Business, Catholic University of America (CUA), where he directs Church Management Programs including the Master in Ecclesiastical Administration and Management (MEAM). He concurrently holds an Associate Professorship in Ethics at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross (Santa Croce) in Rome. His expertise spans natural law, virtue ethics, Thomistic action theory, and papal social doctrine. Fr. Gahl's research addresses intergenerational human flourishing, ethics in technology, and corporate social behavior, with recent work published in the Business and Professional Ethics Journal.
Education includes a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis, followed by philosophical studies in Spain and Italy, culminating in a Ph.D. from Santa Croce. He completed postdoctoral research at the University of Notre Dame and was ordained a priest by St. John Paul II. His teaching includes courses on priestly leadership, governance, and technology ethics.
Fr. Gahl has lectured globally and provided media commentary on Church affairs for outlets like the New York Times, BBC, and Vatican Radio. His 2018–2019 tenure as a Visiting Faculty Research Affiliate at Harvard’s Human Flourishing Program further highlights his interdisciplinary contributions to ethics and organizational behavior.
