Robert Florczak is a Professor at the Gdańsk Academy of Fine Arts, leading the Studio of Art in Public Space at the Faculty of Painting. Born in 1955 in Warsaw, he graduated from the Academy in 1988 and earned a postdoctoral degree (habilitation) in 2009. His artistic practice spans sculpture, performance, theatre, film, and architecture, with a focus on monumentalism and recycling materials like advertising banners into art. He has exhibited globally, including in the USA, Brazil, and Europe, and created over 40 performances, short films, and three monumental sculptures. A recipient of prestigious awards, he also ran the SFINKS club and gallery for 19 years.
