Dr. Robert Fiorentino is a Professor and Associate Chair in the Department of Linguistics at the University of Kansas, affiliated with the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences. His research focuses on neurolinguistics and psycholinguistics, employing EEG methods to examine linguistic representations in adults and second language learners. He directs the Neurolinguistics and Language Processing Laboratory.

Research interests include morphology, syntax, semantics/pragmatics, and L2 syntactic processing. Recent work explores ERP-based studies on Mandarin relative clauses, L2 syntactic systems, and phonotactic constraints. Active in securing NSF grants for doctoral research on language processing mechanisms.
Grants include collaborative projects on individual differences in wh-dependencies, L2 referential dependencies, and prediction cues in Mandarin. His lab investigates cognitive and neural bases of language, with a focus on bilingualism and experimental methods.
