Robert DiYanni is an Adjunct Professor of Humanities at the Leonard N. Stern School of Business, New York University, where he has taught since 2015. He also serves as an instructional consultant at NYU's Center for the Advancement of Teaching, conducting faculty workshops on pedagogy across the university. Previously, he taught at Queens College and Pace University, served as a visiting professor at Harvard, and directed International Services at The College Board for ten years.
His educational background includes a PhD in English from the City University of New York Graduate Center (1976) and a BA in English from Rutgers University (1968).
Professor DiYanni specializes in best practices for college teaching, critical and creative thinking methodologies, and literature pedagogy. His research bridges humanities and business education through courses like Commerce and Culture and Business and its Publics, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to critical analysis in professional contexts.
His recent publications focus on practical applications of critical thinking in educational settings, with recurring themes in teacher development and cognitive skill-building across humanities disciplines. These works consistently integrate business contexts with traditional humanities frameworks.
He has received significant recognition for teaching excellence:

As an instructional consultant, DiYanni advises NYU faculty on pedagogical innovation and is co-editing the two-volume Critical Reading Across the Curriculum (Wiley-Blackwell, 2017/2018), reflecting his ongoing contributions to educational scholarship.
He actively participates in NYU's Center for the Advancement of Teaching, leading initiatives that enhance teaching practices through evidence-based methods and international workshop programs conducted across twenty countries.
