Robert DeLeo serves as the University Fellow for Public Life across the College of Professional Studies and the Department of Political Science in the College of Social Sciences and Humanities at Northeastern University. A former 30-year state lawmaker and Speaker of the Massachusetts House of Representatives (2009–2020), he brings extensive experience in criminal justice reform and gun safety legislation to his academic roles. He teaches undergraduate and graduate students on legislative processes and policy implementation, and collaborates with faculty members like Roderick Ireland and Jack McDevitt on public initiatives. His affiliations include the Kitty & Michael Dukakis Center for Urban and Regional Policy, where he contributes to public programs like the Myra Kraft Open Classroom series.
