Dr. Robert Dawson is a Lecturer in Polymer Chemistry and School Sustainability Lead at the University of Sheffield's School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences. His academic journey includes a MChem in Chemistry with German from the University of Liverpool (2006), a PhD in Chemistry (2010), and postdoctoral research at the Technical University of Berlin as a Marie Curie Fellow (2012–2014). He joined the University of Sheffield in 2015 after roles at the University of Bath.
Research Interests: Dr. Dawson specializes in microporous polymers for energy applications, including CO2 capture, hydrogen storage, and photocatalytic reactions. He focuses on sustainable materials design, waste valorization, and environmental remediation. His work bridges fundamental polymer chemistry with applied solutions for energy and environmental challenges.
Key Achievements: He holds a Marie Curie Intra-European Fellowship, is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), and a Member of the Royal Society of Chemistry (MRSC). His research has led to advancements in porous polymer design for CO2 sequestration, ion-exchange systems for metal recovery, and photocatalytic materials.
Teaching: He contributes to undergraduate and postgraduate modules in inorganic chemistry, including d- and f-Block Elements, Lanthanide Applications, and laboratory-based research projects. He emphasizes practical skills and sustainability in education.
