Robert D. Hoge is a Distinguished Research Professor at Carleton University's Department of Psychology, affiliated with the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Delaware. His research focuses on developmental and forensic psychology, with a specialization in juvenile offender assessment, risk/needs evaluation in adult offenders, and educational strategies for gifted and learning-disabled students.
Key research projects include developing and evaluating tools for assessing juvenile offenders, evaluating juvenile justice programming, and designing educational interventions for at-risk student populations. His work emphasizes evidence-based approaches to criminal justice systems and psychological assessment methodologies.
Publications include seminal books such as Assessing the Youthful Offender (1996), The Juvenile Offender (2001), and Evaluation of Risk for Violence in Juveniles (2010). His journal articles address topics like criminal psychopathy, risk assessment instruments, and reliability-validity analyses of justice tools.
