Robert Costanza is a Professor and Vice Chancellor’s Chair in Public Policy at the Crawford School of Public Policy, Australian National University. He holds additional roles as Senior Fellow at the Stockholm Resilience Centre (Sweden), Affiliate Fellow at the Gund Institute (University of Vermont, USA), and deTao Master of Ecological Economics at the deTao Masters Academy (China). His research focuses on transdisciplinary integration of human and natural systems, addressing policy and management challenges at global to local scales.
Key specialties include ecological economics, ecosystem services, socio-ecological modeling, and environmental policy. He co-founded the International Society for Ecological Economics and edits major journals such as Ecological Economics and Anthropocene Review. Costanza is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia and the Royal Society of Arts (UK), and an Overseas Expert in the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
He participated in the ISC 2021 Summer School as a speaker, delivering a session on 'Overcoming societal addiction to growth'.
