Robert Chirinko is Professor of Finance in the Department of Finance at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC), College of Business Administration. He is also a Research Fellow at the Center for Economic Studies (Munich) and the Center for Financial Studies (Frankfurt), and an affiliate and member of the Faculty Advisory Panel for the Government Finance Research Center at UIC.

Research Focus
Professor Chirinko’s research integrates finance, macroeconomics and public policy, addressing how businesses accumulate capital, how financial markets allocate funds, and how tax, monetary and governance policies affect investment and welfare. Current projects examine public banking, the return on private capital across countries, Islamic banking performance, and the effects of fiscal foresight on firm behavior.
His scholarly output explores themes such as the elasticity of substitution between capital and labor, market discipline in sovereign and corporate debt, the efficacy of state-level job creation tax credits, and the role of central-bank communication in bond-market volatility.
