Robert Brewer Young is a Professor at The European Graduate School (EGS), bridging disciplines in philosophy, craft, and art. He holds a B.F.A. in Filmmaking and Photography from the San Francisco Art Institute, an M.A. in Philosophy from The New School for Social Research, and an M.Phil. in Philosophy from CUNY. His research integrates non-bivalent logic, Nietzschean perspectivism, Sanskrit epistemology, and applied Buddhist logic, alongside practical work as a violinmaker trained in the French tradition. He completed a Maître Luthier certification, restored instruments at the New York Metropolitan Museum, and collaborates with musicians like Yo Yo Ma’s Silk Road Project.
Education highlights include studies under Reiner Schürmann, Saul Kripke, and Graham Priest, with investigations into Schopenhauer’s philosophy at Benares Hindu University. Current projects explore philosophical practices merging logic, craft, and spiritual exercises from Hellenic traditions. His work spans theoretical philosophy, instrument making, and cross-cultural epistemological studies.
Notable collaborations include The Cello Project, blending artistic creation with philosophical inquiry. Though no formal awards are listed, his interdisciplinary contributions reflect sustained innovation at the intersection of art and academia.
