معرفی
Dr. Robert Bachoo is a physician-scientist and Professor in the Department of Neurology at UT Southwestern Medical Center, with joint appointments in Internal Medicine and the Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center. He leads the Neuro-Oncology Translational Laboratory, focusing on brain tumor mechanisms, metabolism, and therapeutic strategies. His work spans preclinical models (e.g., genetically engineered mouse glioma models, patient-derived xenografts) and collaborative research in biophysical approaches to brain tumor migration and blood-brain barrier modulation. Dr. Bachoo’s research has overturned long-held assumptions about tumor metabolism and identified novel imaging biomarkers and therapeutic targets. He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed articles and serves on NIH study sections.
Education: MD from University of Toronto (Canada), PhD from McGill University (Canada). Neurology residency at Tufts University (Boston), postdoctoral training at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (Harvard). He joined UT Southwestern faculty in 2006 and holds the Miller Family Professorship in Neuro-Oncology.
Research interests include glioma biology, tumor metabolism, blood-brain barrier dynamics, and translational strategies for neuro-oncology. Key collaborations involve UT Arlington, UT Dallas, and interdisciplinary teams in biomedical engineering. His lab’s innovations include intraoperative metabolic studies and nanoparticle-based drug delivery systems.
Publications highlight breakthroughs in tumor metabolism (e.g., acetate utilization in glioblastoma), blood-brain barrier modulation, and mechanobiology. His work bridges basic science and clinical applications, with a focus on improving therapies for incurable brain tumors.
