Robert Abrams

Robert Abrams, MD, is a Professor and Executive Director of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at SIU School of Medicine. He serves as Director of Obstetrics for the South Central Illinois Perinatal Center and Director of Obstetrical Ultrasound since 2007. A double board-certified specialist in Obstetrics & Gynecology and Maternal-Fetal Medicine, he combines clinical leadership with academic contributions in high-risk pregnancy management.

Research Focus: His work spans preeclampsia, fetal ultrasound, hypertension in pregnancy, diabetes, genetic counseling, and intrauterine complications. Notably, he has advanced obstetrical ultrasound protocols and contributed to understanding multiple gestations and cervical insufficiency.

Scientific Contributions: With over 15 years of research, Abrams has published on topics ranging from fetal intervention techniques to maternal-fetal pharmacology. His 2020 work on twin gestation septostomy and 2018 studies on amniotic fluid assessment highlight his focus on prenatal diagnostics.
