Robert A. Jenks

Robert A. Jenks is an Adjunct Professor of Law at Tulane Law School, where he contributes to legal education with a focus on practical skills in dispute resolution. He is also actively engaged as the Director of Mediation Arbitration Professional Systems, Inc. (MAPS) in Metairie, Louisiana, bringing decades of real-world experience into the classroom and training programs.

His educational background includes a BA and JD from the University of Iowa. He has extensive professional experience in the private practice of law and as corporate counsel, with deep specialization in alternative dispute resolution.

Mr. Jenks is a highly experienced mediator, having handled approximately 2,000 cases across a wide array of legal domains including tort, construction, employment, commercial disputes, product liability, medical malpractice, maritime law, and franchise law. He has mediated complex, multi-party matters such as class actions and mass torts, and is qualified under the Louisiana Mediation Act and for the Johns Manville Personal Injury Settlement Trust.

He is a sought-after lecturer on ADR and negotiation, having presented for numerous institutions and organizations including Tulane and Loyola Law School CLE programs, the Louisiana State Bar Association, Jefferson Bar Association, Louisiana Judicial College, and various professional associations such as RIMS, OMSA, AGC, and the New Orleans Academy of Trial Lawyers. He has also conducted training sessions for major insurance companies like AIG, State Farm, Travelers, and Liberty Mutual.

Mr. Jenks has developed and led numerous basic and advanced mediator training programs through MAPS and in collaboration with the Louisiana State Bar Association. He is the author and presenter of widely attended CLE seminars titled Negotiation for Success and Seeking Common Ground: Mediation Advocacy, which have been delivered in conjunction with Tulane and Loyola University Law School programs.

He plays a significant role in legal education and professional development, particularly in the design and implementation of dispute resolution systems and advocacy training.
