Dr. Robby Soetanto is a Reader in Construction Innovation Management at Loughborough University's School of Architecture, Building and Civil Engineering. His research focuses on flood resilience, blue-green infrastructure, and innovation in construction, particularly in BIM technologies and disaster risk financing. He has led over £2.5m in research projects, including the award-winning BIM-Hub initiative and the BuGIS project enhancing flood resilience in Indonesia. Dr. Soetanto has been Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator on numerous international projects, emphasizing collaboration with institutions in Indonesia, Peru, Nigeria, and Ghana.
He has received the CIOB’s Premier International Innovation Award (2014) and four international best paper awards. His work integrates community engagement, technological innovation, and policy analysis to address urban sustainability challenges. Current projects include DECONT (UKRI-funded), exploring digital transformation in construction, and FloodFinJava, addressing flood risk financing in Central Java.
Dr. Soetanto’s teaching and research emphasize international collaboration, with initiatives like the UK-Indonesia Researcher Network (UKIREN) and virtual team-based learning programs. His research bridges academia and industry, focusing on practical solutions for resilient infrastructure and sustainable development.
