Ksenia Chmutina

Professor Ksenia Chmutina is a leading academic in Disaster Studies at Loughborough University, holding roles as Associate Pro-Vice Chancellor for Impact and Internationalisation and Director of the Institute of Advanced Studies. Her research focuses on disaster risk creation, disaster capitalism, and the intersection of urban sustainability/resilience with neoliberal policies and post-colonial contexts. She has pioneered innovative methodologies including participatory gaming for disaster risk reduction and audio-based communication of flood experiences.

Key projects include the GRRIPP initiative addressing gender-responsive resilience in global South communities and the Beyond the Networked City project enhancing water/energy systems in African urban areas.
