Robby Luckett is a tenured Associate Professor of History at Jackson State University, where he also serves as Director of the Margaret Walker Center and COFO Civil Rights Education Center. A native Mississippian, he holds a BA in political science from Yale University and a doctorate in history from the University of Georgia.
His research focuses on the intersection of Southern political history and education policy, with notable works analyzing racial resistance mechanisms in the 20th century South and modern liberal arts pedagogy. His book Joe T. Patterson and the White South’s Dilemma examines conservative political strategies against civil rights advancements, while Redefining Liberal Arts Education proposes transformative approaches to undergraduate education.
Luckett’s academic leadership includes directing key institutions preserving civil rights history. His work bridges historical analysis with contemporary educational reform initiatives.
