Robbin Jan van Duijne is a Researcher in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning and Geo-Information Management at the University of Twente, affiliated with the Digital Society Institute. His work focuses on regional development, agrarian transformations, migration, and climate change impacts, particularly in India. He holds a PhD from the University of Twente, funded by an NWO Research Talent Grant, and has published in journals like Annals of the American Association of Geographers and Economic Geography.
Current roles include an NWO Embassy Science Fellowship at the Dutch Embassy in New Delhi (2022), advising on climate policy, and a NWO Rubicon grant-funded postdoctoral position at Columbia University’s Climate School (CIESIN collaboration). His research integrates climate data with population statistics to study human-environment interactions, contributing to UN SDGs on climate action and sustainable cities.
Recent publications analyze climate migration in Kenya, urbanization processes in India, and frameworks linking climate change to food security. Major grants include NWO Rubicon (2022), NWO Embassy Science Fellowship (2022), and NWO Research Talent Grant (PhD funding).
