Robbie Arrell is a Lecturer in Applied Ethics at the Inter-Disciplinary Ethics Applied (IDEA) Centre, University of Leeds. His research focuses on moral and political philosophy, particularly the ethics of partiality, associative duties, and applied ethical issues such as bioethics, neuroethics, and distributive justice. Previously, he held positions at Wuhan University (China) and Monash University (Australia). He holds a PhD from the University of Melbourne, an MA from University College Dublin, and a BSocSc from University College Dublin.
Education: PhD (Philosophy), MA (Political Philosophy), BSocSc (Politics and Sociology). Research interests include the ethics of relationships, citizenship responsibilities, human rights, and the ethics of emerging technologies. His work explores theoretical foundations of partiality and practical applications in areas like abortion ethics, moral enhancement, and the ethics of love and sex.
Key areas of expertise include bioethics, engineering ethics, and topics related to poverty, ecology, and war. He is affiliated with the Centre for Love, Sex, and Relationships. His publications address issues such as public reason in abortion debates, biochemical fidelity enhancement, and the robustness of associative duties in friendships.
