معرفی
Dr. Robbert Cool is a Lecturer in Pharmacy at the Faculty of Science and Engineering, University of Groningen, where he has been working since 1999. His expertise spans Biochemistry & Molecular Biology with a focus on protein interactions and their therapeutic applications.
His academic background includes:
- PhD studies at Ecole Polytechnique, Palaiseau, France (1986-1991)
- Postdoctoral research at University of Leiden, The Netherlands (1991-1993)
- Group leader position at Max-Planck-Institute, Dortmund, Germany (1993-1999)
Dr. Cool's research focuses on protein biochemistry with specialized expertise in heterologous protein production, protein purification, protein-protein interactions, Surface plasmon resonance (SPR), Small GTPases, and cytokines (TRAIL, RANKL, MIF) and their receptors. His recent publication record (2020-2025) reveals a concentrated effort on Macrophage Migration Inhibitory Factor (MIF) pathways, d-Dopachrome Tautomerase in lung cancer, and protein interaction mechanisms. His work bridges fundamental biochemical research with practical applications in cancer therapeutics and drug development.
His scientific contributions include 97 research outputs documented in Scopus, with publications appearing in high-impact journals including Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, Journal of the American Chemical Society, and Chemistry.
Dr. Cool has received the Teaching Competences and Basic Teaching Qualifications Certificate (BKO) in 2015. He serves as practical coordinator for 'The Cell: a practical approach' and coordinator of Pharmaceutical Microbiology courses.
His laboratory work centers on biochemical approaches to study protein interactions, particularly related to cytokines and their receptors, with direct applications in cancer research and drug discovery. He maintains active collaborations with medicinal chemists and pharmacologists to develop novel therapeutic approaches targeting protein interactions in disease pathways.
