Rob Smallwood is a Senior Lecturer in Policing at Sheffield Hallam University's School of Computing and Digital Technologies. He holds an MSc, BA (Hons), and professional qualifications including PGCLTHE.
With 33 years of frontline policing experience in Derbyshire Constabulary, he developed expertise across diverse crime investigations and emergency response, receiving commendation for actions during the 1989 Kegworth air disaster. His research focuses on police training methodologies and knowledge/skill development frameworks for law enforcement professionals.
Professor Smallwood previously served as programme leader for the BA (Hons) Policing degree at the University of Derby. He maintains professional memberships with the British Society of Criminology and International Investigative Interviewing Research Group.
