Rob Sands is Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Archaeology at University College Dublin, specializing in ancient wood analysis and wetland archaeology. His research examines Bronze/Iron Age toolmarks, Roman woodcraft, and crannog settlements through dendrochronology and material science approaches.
He coordinates courses on archaeological science and GIS applications in cultural heritage. Sands has led excavations of medieval fishweirs and charcoal production sites, with current projects including 'Making time: using technology to understand Ireland’s Iron Age.'
