Professor Rob Bentall is an Associate Professor of Sound Design, Composition and Performance at Leeds College of Music. He is a composer, performer, and researcher whose work combines electronica, folk, and experimental music, with a focus on genre hybridization and the intersection of ancient and modern music.
- Educated at the University of Manchester (BMus, 2010) and University of Sheffield (MMus), with a PhD in Sonic Arts from Queen's University Belfast (2015).
His research spans electroacoustic music, multi-channel sound diffusion, and historical genre evolution. He has been recognized with awards including the P.J. Leonard Prize, Julian Payne Scholarship, and Arts Council England funding for projects like Reimagining the Nyckelharpa.
Rob has held residencies at institutions like the Electronic Music Studios (Stockholm) and Visby International Composers Centre, and collaborates in ensembles such as Emergence Collective and Resonant Bodies.
