Rob Ameloot is a Professor at the Faculty of Bioscience Engineering, KU Leuven, leading the Membrane Separations, Adsorption, Catalysis and Spectroscopy for Sustainable Solutions (cMACS) group. His work bridges traditional materials chemistry with microelectronics and diagnostics through metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and 3D printing innovations.

His research integrates porous materials with microfabrication for applications in CO2 capture, electrochemical sensing, and biomedical devices. Current projects focus on 3D-printed reactors, polymer recycling, and temperature-sensitive sensors.
Recent publications highlight advances in MOF patterning, plasma-assisted protein immobilization, and MEMS sensor integration. He supervises students in areas spanning atomic layer deposition, adsorption kinetics, and functional material design.
