Rizwan Abdul Rahman Rashid

Dr. Rizwan Abdul Rahman Rashid is a Senior Research Fellow at Swinburne University of Technology, affiliated with the School of Engineering and the Department of Mechanical and Product Design Engineering. He is also appointed as a Lecturer (Education Specialist) starting February 2025 and has served as a Sessional Lecturer since 2015, reflecting his dual commitment to research and teaching in advanced manufacturing.

His research spans additive manufacturing, cold spray processing, machining of difficult-to-machine materials, and surface engineering, with strong applications in aerospace, defense, and biomedical sectors. He leads multiple industry-funded projects and has secured over $1.6 million in grants from organizations including the Australian Research Council and DMTC Limited.

His publications, exceeding 60 peer-reviewed articles, focus on laser-assisted manufacturing, tool life modeling, sustainable machining, and metal/graphene composites. These works are published in top journals such as Additive Manufacturing, International Journal of Machine Tools and Manufacture, and Materials, and have garnered over 2,400 citations.

As an educator and mentor, Dr. Rashid has supervised over 30 students, including PhD candidates, and is currently involved in HDR supervision projects related to cold spray printing, digital twins for cutting tools, and biomedical titanium alloys. He actively collaborates with industry partners such as Rosebank Engineering, Rebus Corporation, and ANCA Pty Ltd, driving innovation in repair technologies and green energy solutions.
