Rita Zhang is an Associate Professor in the School of Property, Construction and Project Management at RMIT University. Her research focuses on improving construction industry health and safety through practical, industry-linked studies. She holds a postdoctoral background from RMIT’s Centre for Construction Work Health and Safety Research and prior experience as a Research Assistant at the University of Hong Kong. Rita’s work emphasizes safety governance, organizational leadership, and wellbeing in construction contexts, supported by over $2 million in research funding from government and private sectors.
Research interests include health and safety climate/culture, integrated supply chain safety approaches, and corporate social responsibility. She has supervised projects on mental health in construction workers, work-life conflict, and safety communication innovations. Rita’s contributions span peer-reviewed publications in international construction management journals and presentations at global conferences.
Her academic roles include teaching in construction safety, knowledge management, and social psychology. She actively collaborates with industry partners to bridge theoretical and practical safety challenges, advocating for sustainable safety practices and worker wellbeing across diverse projects.
