Professor Rita Haase is affiliated with the University of Windsor's Faculty of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, specifically within the Department of Women’s Studies. Her work integrates academic research with community engagement, focusing on social justice, gender equity, and sustainability. She co-founded the Campus Community Garden Project in 2010, fostering connections between campus and local communities through shared gardening initiatives. Recently, she led Tampon Tuesday campaigns to address period poverty, partnering with students like Jada Malott to collect menstrual hygiene products. Her interdisciplinary efforts also include organizing panels on anti-racism allyship and sustainability advocacy.
Her research interests span women’s studies, community development, and environmental stewardship. Through initiatives like heirloom seed workshops and food security projects, she emphasizes traditional ecological knowledge and urban sustainability.
