Rita Gradaille Pernas

Rita Gradaille Pernas is a Professor at the University of Santiago de Compostela, affiliated with the Faculty of Education Sciences and the Department of Pedagogy and Didactics. She is also associated with the Institute for Aquatic Research for Global Health (iARCUS) and the SEPA-interea research group focused on Social Pedagogy and Environmental Education.

Education

• Doctorate in Educational Sciences (2003) from the University of Santiago de Compostela, with a thesis titled "Education and socialization of women in rural Galicia: A sociobiographical analysis of their academic, work and family trajectories", supervised by Dr. José Antonio Caride Gómez.
• Recipients of the Extraordinary Bachelor's Award (1997) and Extraordinary Doctorate Award (2004).

Research Interests encompass Pedagogy-Social Education, Educational and social times, Socio-educational policies and human rights, Community development, Education, gender and social equity, and Leisure Education. Her work emphasizes sociobiographical analysis, community development, and educational policies aimed at promoting gender equity and social inclusion.

She has conducted 16 pre- and postdoctoral research stays (34 months) in competitive institutions across Spain and abroad, supported by Ministry scholarships. Rita is currently Vice-President of the Ibero-American Society of Social Pedagogy (SIPS) and Secretary of the Ociogune Network of Excellence.
