Riikka Hofmann is Professor of the Learning Sciences at the University of Cambridge Faculty of Education, where she leads the 'Dialogue, Professional Change and Leadership' research strand in the Cambridge Educational Dialogue Research Group (CEDiR). She holds a Docent (Adjunct Professor) position in Psychology of Education from the University of Helsinki and co-founded the Cambridge University Medical Education Group (CUMEG). Her work addresses challenges in translating research into professional practice across education and healthcare.
Hofmann investigates mechanisms of professional learning through ethnographic and experimental methods, focusing on equitable outcomes. She advises UK government bodies including the Cabinet Office's Cross-Whitehall Trials Advice Panel and co-develops pathways to widen participation in higher education. Her research portfolio includes projects on technology-enhanced medical simulations, school-based health promotion, and cultural literacy through dialogue.
