معرفی
Rigaud Sylvain is a Permanent member (Associate Professor) in Biogeochemistry at the University of Nîmes, serving as Head of the 3rd year Life Sciences degree course "Environment". He holds elected positions on the University Council, Science and Art Department Council, and Technical Committee of the University of Nîmes, alongside external roles in the GIPREB Joint Syndicate Scientific Council and Mediterranean floating wind power research initiatives.
His research centers on chemical species behavior (oxygen, nutrients, pollutants, trace elements, radionuclides) in coastal aquatic ecosystems, with specialized focus on water-sediment interface biogeochemical processes, contaminant bioavailability/bioaccumulation, and impacts on benthic organisms. Methodologically, he integrates analytical chemistry, in situ/lab experiments, transport-reaction modeling, thermodynamic calculations, and radioactive isotope tracing to advance environmental risk assessment frameworks.
Associated with the University of Nîmes Analytical Techniques Platform, he utilizes specialized infrastructure for sample preparation, physicochemical analysis, molecular biology, and microbiology. His governance contributions extend to interdisciplinary environmental policy through university committees and national scientific consortia including ODATIS-Oxygène and floating wind power councils.
