Sophie La Rocca is an Associate Professor in Design and Applied Arts at the University of Nîmes. She is a core member of the PROJEKT research team, which focuses on design and social innovation as an own research unit (UPR). Her work aligns with the team's research axes, including epistemology of design, ethics and methodology, vulnerabilities in design, and material/process-oriented creative practices.
PROJEKT's research (2020-2025) emphasizes socially responsible design through four key axes: theoretical foundations of design practice, addressing societal vulnerabilities via design solutions, material experimentation and craft processes, and intentional project methodologies. She contributes to doctoral training programs and oversees thesis guidance within the team's framework.
Her involvement includes organizing research seminars like the 'Culture of the Project' doctoral seminar (2024-2025) and cross-departmental DEIS seminars. Collaborations with institutions and industry partners underscore her commitment to applied design innovation.
