Dr. Ries Breijer is an Assistant Professor of Corporate Reporting at Nyenrode Business University, affiliated with the Center for Corporate Reporting, Finance & Tax. He completed his part-time BSc and MSc in Accounting at Nyenrode before joining a full-time PhD program, culminating in a dissertation titled "Accountability and Responsibility: The Role of Corporate Reporting".
Research interests focus on non-financial and financial reporting, corporate governance, and regulatory frameworks like the NFRD (2014/95/EU). His work examines the economic consequences of mandatory versus voluntary disclosures and the comparability of non-financial information across organizations.
Publications reflect expertise in European regulatory compliance, financial transparency, and the intersection of accountability practices with corporate strategy. He teaches courses on academic research in accountancy and external reporting for accountants, supervising master's theses in these areas.
